The McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System
An International Waterway:
Oklahoma and surrounding states are connected to the world through the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System. This 440-mile waterway is operational year-round and connects Oklahoma and neighboring states to ports located along a 25,000-mile inland waterway, and on to national and foreign ports. The McClellan-Kerr system contains 18 locks and dams. On average, barges transport over 2 million tons of cargo on the waterway each year.
